Faith Hensley
Artist Statement
I am an abstract contemporary painter who is constantly exploring the continuous exchange of energy that happens all around us.
Fixed elements contrast with fluid ones, highlighting the relationships between objects that can be seen, along with the atmosphere that we can only sense. My work employs the landscape (water, rocks, sky) along with the inner non-representational. Objects are both solid and ethereal, dissolving and grounded at the same time.
Texture and depth, intersecting spacial forms, as well as interesting combinations of color are important elements of my work. I try to create endless varieties of contrast and vibrant interaction, raised and recessed surfaces, and glossy and matte combined finishes.
Curriculum Vitae
Born in Kansas City, Missouri and lived in Taos, New Mexico for 27 years before returning to the Kansas City area.
Education: B.F.A Tisch School of the Arts New York University
Currently is the Curator of the Healing Arts Collection at University Health KC 2016 - Present
